24 Hour Readathon📚Developing a love for reading is high on our priority list. We have two libraries on campus. Even our Preschoolers visit the library once a week and take books home for mom or dad to read to them.What better way for the PTA to raise funds than to have a Readathon. Children were sponsored per 15 minute session they read.They started reading at 07:45 on Friday morning. The Grade 6s and 7s stayed overnight to turn it into a 24 hour reading marathon. With midnight hot chocolate and snacks, and stretching exercises, they pushed through until the "compulsory sleep" time. And then they were up and reading again at 05:30 on Saturday until their parents fetched them at 08:00.Our Preschoolers had 5 reading activities during their school morning too.The teachers went to great lengths to decorate their classrooms according to a theme. We had astronauts, chickens, bus passengers, a Starbooks Cafe, campers, celebrities and shack dwellers.The money is still coming in so we don't yet know how much money we raised, but we do know we raised a love for reading.The school was very quiet on Friday with everyone sitting with their noses in books. ...
